The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Scandone AV as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Germani BR) loss. Scandone AV smashed 6th ranked Virtus Bologna in Avellino 87-59. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Virtus Bologna.
