Regular Season Round 14: Umana VE - VL Pesaro 72-71

Fifteenth-ranked VL Pesaro (3-11) made lots of trouble for fourth ranked Umana Venezia (10-4) on Sunday. Umana Venezia managed to secure only one-point victory 72-71. However their fans expected much easier game. Umana Venezia looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by VL Pesaro's players. The best player for the winners was Croatian forward Hrvoje Peric (203-85) who scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Lithuanian swingman Gediminas Orelik (199-90) chipped in 2 points and 12 assists. Umana Venezia's coach Walter De Raffaele used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Dallas Moore (185-94, college: N.Florida, agency: 3Eye) produced 22 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Eric Mika (208-95, college: BYU) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four VL Pesaro players scored in double figures. Umana Venezia have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Germani BR. VL Pesaro lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 11 games lost. Umana Venezia will face league's second-placed Armani Milano on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. VL Pesaro will play against Banco di Srd (#6) and hope to win that game.
