Regular Season Round 15: Gipuzkoa GBC - Iberostar Tener. 89-70

There was an upset in San Sebastian where higher ranked CB Canarias (8-7) was crushed by fourteenth ranked Gipuzkoa (6-9) 89-70 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Gipuzkoa. CB Canarias was better in fourth quarter 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Gipuzkoa especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. CB Canarias was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was British power forward Daniel Clark (210-88) who scored 21 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Italian-Argentinian Federico Van-Lacke (191-80) chipped in 12 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Greek swingman Kostas Vasiliadis (200-84) who recorded 12 points and Polish swingman Mateusz Ponitka (196-93) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Four CB Canarias players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gipuzkoa moved-up to twelfth place. Loser CB Canarias dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. Gipuzkoa will face higher ranked Blusens Monbus (#11) in Santiago de Comp in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
