Regular Season Round 16: Maccabi Ashdod - Maccabi R.Hen 69-77

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Maccabi Ashdod (12-4) at the home court on Monday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Maccabi Ramat Gan (11-5) 77-69. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Maccabi Ashdod. They outrebounded Maccabi Ashdod 44-25 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Maccabi Ramat Gan looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of international power forward Dannielle Diamant (196-91, college: Northwestern) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. American power forward Bashaara Graves (188-94, college: Tennessee) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American point guard Chelsea Hopkins (173-90, college: San Diego St.) replied with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and her fellow American import swingman Tiffany Hayes (177-89, college: Connecticut) added 20 points in the effort for Maccabi Ashdod. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Maccabi Ramat Gan maintains third position with 11-5 record behind leader Elitzur Holon. Defending champion Maccabi Ashdod still keeps top place with four games lost. They share the position with Elitzur Holon. Maccabi Ramat Gan are looking forward to face B.Yehuda (#9) in Tel Aviv in the next round where they are favorite. Maccabi Ashdod will play on the road against Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion (#10) and is hoping to win this game.
