Date: January 10, 2018
Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Doha: Al Arabi (#2) and Al Shamal (#9). Al Shamal was defeated at home 80-95 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Al Arabi outrebounded Al Shamal 43-30 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. American forward Nick Stover (198-93, college: S.Alabama) notched 27 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the effort and Senegalese center Oumar Seck (208-88) supported him with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Four Al Arabi players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 28 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks by American guard Justin Monroe (196-87, college: Morehouse) did not help to save the game for Al Shamal. DR Congolese-American swingman Moses Ehambe (198-86, college: ORU) added 26 points for the hosts. Al Arabi (11-2) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position having just one point less than leader Al Gharafa. Al Shamal lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 12 games lost. Al Arabi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Rayyan.
