There was no surprise in Sichuan where 14th ranked Shaanxi Tianze (3-20) was defeated by eleventh ranked Whale (9-14) 57-53 on Wednesday. The best player for the winners was Belarusian center Yelena Levchenko (196-83, college: W.Virginia) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 21 rebounds. Guard Fangzhu Gong (170-91) chipped in 13 points and 4 assists. American forward Morgan Tuck (188-94, college: Connecticut) produced a double-double by scoring 28 points and 18 rebounds and center Jing An (184-95) added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. The victory was the third consecutive win for Whale. They moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Liaoning. Shaanxi Tianze lost their sixth game in a row. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 20 lost games. Whale will face Shandong (#12) in Jinan in the next round. Shaanxi Tianze will play at home against Heilongjiang and hope to win that game.
