No shocking result in a game when third ranked Hapoel Jerusalem (9-3) beat at home 7th ranked Ironi Nahariya (5-7) 92-78 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Hapoel Jerusalem. Ironi Nahariya managed to win third quarter 26-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hapoel Jerusalem looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Ironi Nahariya's players. The winners were led by American point guard Kalin Lucas (185-89, college: Michigan St.) who scored that evening 20 points and 8 assists and Dominican-American forward Ronald Roberts (203-91, college: St.Joseph's, agency: Pensack Sports) supported him with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Four Hapoel Jerusalem players scored in double figures. Even 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by American swingman Alex Young (198-89, college: IUPUI, agency: Two Points) did not help to save the game for Ironi Nahariya. Naturalized Ukrainian center Igor Nesterenko (203-90) added 11 points and 13 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Hapoel Jerusalem have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Hapoel Holon. Ironi Nahariya lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with seven games lost. They share it with Maccabi Ashdod and Hapoel Eilat. Hapoel Jerusalem will meet Maccabi Rishon (#6) in the next round. Ironi Nahariya will play against Hapoel Tel-Aviv and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
