Second Stage Round 1: Union SF - Villa San Martin 85-76

Villa San Martin (11-5) recorded a loss in Santa Fe. Visitors were defeated by Union SF (9-8) 85-76. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 29-15. But Villa San Martin won second period 24-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Union SF forced 20 Villa San Martin turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Haitian-American forward James Cambronne (201-91, college: St.Michael's) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). Andres Mariani (188-87) contributed with 13 points and 6 assists for the winners. Cambronne is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Union SF players scored in double figures. American forward Paul Larsen (198-92, college: USC Aiken) answered with 27 points and 9 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) and center Guillermo Saavedra (200-86) added 10 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Villa San Martin. Union SF will play against Libertad Sunchales (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Villa San Martin will play against Echague in Parana and hopes to get back on the winning track.
