Regular Season Round 9: Atenas - Obras Basket 80-85

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Atenas (7-3) against fourth ranked Obras Basket (6-4) on Thursday night. Host Atenas was defeated by Obras Basket in a tough game in Cordoba 80-85. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Atenas. It was a good game for American forward Maurice Kemp (203-91, college: E.Carolina, agency: Duran International) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 6 rebounds. Tomas Zanzottera (191-93) contributed with 26 points for the winners. American center Jerome Meyinsse (207-88, college: Virginia, agency: Dutt Sports Services) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 18 rebounds and the other American import power forward Roquez Johnson (201-92, college: Mississippi St.) added 19 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Atenas. Four Atenas players scored in double figures. Obras Basket moved-up to third place, which they share with Argentino. Atenas at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Obras Basket will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Atenas will play at home against Estudiantes C. and hopes to get back on the winning track.
