Regular Season Round 16: Polski Cukier - MKS DG 88-81

There was a minor upset when much higher ranked MKS Dabrowa Gornicza (12-5) lost to fourth ranked Twarde Pierniki (12-5) in Torun 81-88 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 7 points. Twarde Pierniki looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a very good performance for the former international Lukasz Wisniewski (186-84, college: Barton Co. CC, agency: Promotex) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 7 assists. International Aaron Cel (203-87) contributed with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American forward DJ Shelton (208-91, college: Washington St.) replied with 27 points and 6 rebounds and Serbian point guard Jovan Novak (188-94, agency: BeoBasket) added 13 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for MKS Dabrowa Gornicza. Four Twarde Pierniki and five MKS Dabrowa Gornicza players scored in double figures. Twarde Pierniki moved-up to second place, which they share with Stelmet and MKS DG. MKS Dabrowa Gornicza lost third consecutive game. Twarde Pierniki will face AZS Koszalin (#14) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. MKS Dabrowa Gornicza will play against Miasto Szkla (#13) and hope to win that game.
