Regular Season Round 15: Louaize - Al Riyadi 72-92

The game in Zouk supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Al Riyadi (12-3) played at the court of 7th ranked Louaize (5-10). Al Riyadi did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 92-72 on Friday. Al Riyadi dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Louaize's 32. They outrebounded Louaize 56-28 including a 39-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Al Riyadi made 8 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for the former international forward Mohamad Haidar (201-90, college: Michigan Tech) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international swingman Jean Abdel-Nour (198-83) accounted for 14 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side. Five Al Riyadi players scored in double figures. American Marvelle Harris (193-93, college: Fresno St., agency: Slash Sports) came up with 23 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import forward Travis Franklin (200-88, college: Colorado St.) added 24 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Louaize in the defeat. Louaize's coach Marwan Khalil rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Defending champion maintains second place with 12-3 record having just two points less than leader Homenetmen. Loser Louaize keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. Al Riyadi will meet at home Al Moutahed (#6) in the next round. Louaize will play against Byblos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
