Not a big story in a game when 17th ranked Sammic ISB (5-13) was outscored by eleventh ranked Leyma Basquet (8-9) in Coruna 79-59 on Friday. The game without a history. Leyma Basquet led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a good game for American guard Zach Monaghan (188-92, college: Minn.St.-Mankato, agency: Duran International) who led his team to a victory with 13 points and 6 assists. Center Eduardo Hernandez-Sonseca (212-83) contributed with 7 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Leyma Basquet's coach Gustavo Aranzana used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Marcos Portalez (204-95) replied with 11 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Mo Evans (185-94, college: IPFW) added 11 points and 4 assists in the effort for Sammic ISB. Leyma Basquet moved-up to tenth place. Sammic ISB lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the sixteenth position with 13 games lost. Leyma Basquet will face higher ranked Araberri (#9) in Vitoria-Gasteiz in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Sammic ISB will play at home against Oviedo CB (#4) and hope to win that game.
