Very predictable result in Manama where second ranked Al-Ahli (16-3) smashed 7th ranked Al-Ittihad (10-9) 78-46 on Saturday. Al-Ahli forced 19 Al-Ittihad turnovers. Strangely Al-Ittihad outrebounded Al-Ahli 53-36 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Al-Ahli made 10 blocks. The best player for the winners was Canadian power forward Ryan Wright (206-87, college: Oklahoma) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds. Hussain Shaker chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. Four Al-Ahli players scored in double figures. American forward Antwan Wilkerson (201-91, college: Johnson C. Smith) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and Ali Ghadeer added 9 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Al-Ahli maintains second position with 16-3 record behind leader Al-Manama. Loser Al-Ittihad dropped to the eighth place with nine games lost. Al-Ahli will meet Al-Riffa (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Al-Ittihad will play against Al-Bahrain in Manama and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
