Real Betis (#18) forced the game against Burgos (#17) into an overtime, but lost by four points 88-92 on Saturday night. The hosts trailed by 11 points after three quarters before their 28-17 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 4-point victory in overtime. Burgos outrebounded Real Betis 43-30 including 32 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The winners were led by American forward Deon Thompson (203-88, college: N.Carolina) who scored that evening 25 points and 9 rebounds and Lithuanian forward Deividas Gailius (200-88) supported him with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Even 23 points and 6 rebounds by American-Czech swingman Blake Schilb (201-83, college: Loyola, IL, agency: BeoBasket) did not help to save the game for Real Betis. American Ryan Kelly (211-91, college: Duke) added 25 points (made all of his eight free throws) for lost side. Five Burgos and four Real Betis players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Burgos (5-11) moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Zaragoza. Loser Real Betis stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Burgos will meet Zaragoza (#16) on the road in the next round. Real Betis will play against Baskonia in Vitoria and hope to secure a win.
