Regular Season Round 19: Arenys - Tarragona 90-76

Everything could happen in Arenys del Mar at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Arenys and 7th ranked Tarragona had identical 6-5 record. This time Arenys used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Tarragona 90-76 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Arenys. Tarragona was better in fourth quarter 28-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tarragona was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for swingman Josep Busquets (197-99) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 5 rebounds. Swingman Pol Molins (191-99) helped adding 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Arenys players scored in double figures. At the losing side Senegalese forward Modou Mbaye (201-94) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and center Guido Villamil (205-88) scored 17 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Arenys (7-5) moved-up to fifth place in Group C-A, which they share with Sant Josep. Loser Tarragona dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. Arenys will face Quart (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Tarragona will play against Barbera in Barcelona and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the LEB Silver just one year after relegation.
