An interesting game for Gembo BBC (11-4) which hosted in Borgerhout 3rd placed Ieper (10-6). Second ranked Gembo BBC managed to get a 13-point victory 73-60. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Ieper. Gembo BBC made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Ieper turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Gembo BBC made 18 blocks. Forward Eli Van-Aken (193-85) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Tomas Goethaert (183-83) contributed with 10 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Gembo BBC players scored in double figures. Guard Robin Spaens (180-92) answered with 19 points and 4 blocks and naturalized Swiss center Stan Leemans (205-92, agency: Promotex) added 11 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Ieper. Gembo BBC maintains second place with 11-4 record behind leader Oxaco. Ieper at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. Gembo BBC are looking forward to face Gistel Oostende (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Ieper will play against Royal Brussels (#6) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
