Regular Season Round 19: Vic - Cornella 94-73

Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Cornella (6-7) was rolled over on the road by second ranked Vic (11-2) 94-73 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 94-73. Vic dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Cornella's 30. Vic forced 21 Cornella turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for point guard Julian Garrote (185-82) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 4 assists. Power forward Samuel Dominguez (204-91, college: La Palma) helped adding 14 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side forward Nacho Marin (201-93) responded with 18 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Nestor Zamora (178-84) scored 10 points and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Vic have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They keep a position of Group C-B leader, which they share with Pardinyes-L. Loser Cornella dropped to the seventh place with seven games lost. Vic will face Salt (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cornella will play against Andorra II (#14) and hope to win that game.
