Regular Season Round 17: Moron - Martorell 84-73

There was no surprise in Morón de la Frontera where 15th ranked Martorell (3-14) was defeated by eighth ranked Moron (10-8) 84-73 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Moron. Martorell was better in fourth quarter 29-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Moron looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Guinean forward Cheick-Sekou Conde (203-92) who scored 21 points and 7 rebounds. The former international power forward Jesus Chagoyen (202-78) chipped in 9 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Xavi Guirao (190-87) produced 14 points and Egyptian power forward Ahmed Khalaf (206-99) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Moron moved-up to seventh place. Newly promoted Martorell keeps the fifteenth position with 14 games lost. Moron will face bottom-ranked Zamorano (#16) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Martorell will play against Plasencia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
