Regular Season Round 17: Valmontone - Barcellona 72-68

There was a change at the Serie B leadership position after last games. Round 17 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Basket Barcellona (14-3). They were defeated by third ranked Valmontone (14-3) 72-68 on Saturday night. It was a key game for the second position in B. Matteo Pierangeli (201-92) stepped up and scored 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and power forward Innocenzo Ferraro (200-82) chipped in 12 points and 11 rebounds. Four Valmontone players scored in double figures. Power forward Luigi Brunetti (205-88) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and power forward Giacomo Sereni (200-84) scored 14 points. Basket Barcellona's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Valmontone moved-up to second place in B, which they share with Piacenza. Basket Barcellona will play next round against Catanzaro trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Valmontone will try to continue on its current victory against fourteenth ranked Patti on the road.
