Regular Season Round 19: Girona Basquet - Quart 78-53

Everything went according to plan when first ranked Girona Basquet (10-3) outscored at home 11th ranked Quart (4-8) 78-53 on Saturday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Girona Basquet had a 33-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Pau Juscafresa (198-97) who led his team to a victory scoring 8 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Xavier Costa (192-84) helped adding 14 points. At the losing side guard Eric Jimenez (190-90) responded with 15 points and 5 rebounds and center Xavier Montalat (202-92) scored 10 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Girona Basquet have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Newly promoted Girona Basquet maintains first place in Group C-A with 10-3 record, which they share with Vive El Masnou. Quart lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with eight games lost. Girona Basquet will face bottom-ranked Castelldefels (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Quart will play against Arenys in Arenys del Mar and hope to win that game.
