Regular Season Round 14: Barca CBS - Lima-Horta 83-48

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Barcelona: Barca CBS (#2) and Lima-Horta (#6). Barca CBS (11-3) smashed visiting Lima-Horta (7-7) by 35 points 83-48. It looked good early as Lima-Horta took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Barca CBS had a 22-10 second period charge getting the lead and Lima-Horta was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 48-83. Barca CBS dominated on the defensive end, holding Lima-Horta to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded Lima-Horta 42-25 including a 31-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Barca CBS players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American guard Sheila Dixon (178, college: Brown) notched 25 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and Monica Lazaro (-86) supported her with 2 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Even 10 points and 8 rebounds by Andrea Garcia did not help to save the game for Lima-Horta. Guard Laura Lopez (171-85) added 9 points for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Barca CBS have an impressive five-game winning streak. Newly promoted Barca CBS maintains second position in Group A with 11-3 record having just three points less than leader Gran Canaria. Lima-Horta at the other side dropped to the eighth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Joventut LC. Barca CBS will play against GDKO Bizkaia (#4) in Galdakao in the next round. Lima-Horta will play at home against Cortegada (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
