Regular Season Round 19: Mondragon - Burgos 85-65

There was a surprise result when fifteenth ranked Mondragon (5-11) smashed at home higher ranked Burgos (8-10) 85-65 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Mondragon. Burgos was better in third quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mondragon forced 34 Burgos turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Burgos' players. Burgos was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American forward Justin Satchell (203, college: St.Leo) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points. Mikel Basterra helped adding 18 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side center Mario Tobar (200-88) responded with 19 points and center Txomin Lopez (204-78) scored 16 points. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Mondragon moved-up to twelfth place in Group A-A, which they share with Valle de Egues and BIOK2.COM OKE. Loser Burgos dropped to the seventh position with ten games lost. Mondragon will face higher ranked Valladolid Univ. (#8) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
