Regular Season Round 16: Kutaisi - Mgzavrebi 95-74

Leader Kutaisi delivered the eleventh victory. This time they crushed 7th ranked Mgzavrebi (5-9) 95-74. It looked good early as Mgzavrebi took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Kutaisi had a 29-15 second period charge getting the lead and Mgzavrebi was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 74-95. They outrebounded Mgzavrebi 34-21 including 22 on the defensive glass. Kutaisi players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Mgzavrebi's players. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Giorgi Barbakadze (203-91) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 5 assists. American point guard Jonathan Lee (188-90, college: Northeastern, agency: Court Side) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Five Kutaisi players scored in double figures. American guard Adrian Bowie (189-89, college: Maryland) replied with 18 points and 5 rebounds and Cameroonian forward Bertrand Nkali (206-92, college: Houston) added 14 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Mgzavrebi. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kutaisi have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 11-2 record. Mgzavrebi at the other side keeps the seventh place with nine games lost. Kutaisi will play against Olimpi (#5) in Tbilisi in the next round. Mgzavrebi will play on the road against Energy Invest in Rustavi and hopes to get back on the winning track.
