Very important is a road loss of third ranked Real Canoe (9-4) against eighth ranked Magec Tias (7-7) on Saturday night. Visiting Real Canoe was defeated by Magec Tias in Las Palmas 64-54. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Real Canoe. The game was mostly controlled by Magec Tias. Real Canoe managed to win third quarter 14-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Magec Tias dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Real Canoe's 26. The best player for the winners was center Yaiza Garcia (190-88) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Argentinian power forward Ornella Santana (183-90) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Four Magec Tias players scored in double figures. Power forward Veronica Matoso (185-88, agency: ProDep Management) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Gema Garcia (165-85, agency: ProDep Management) added 15 points respectively for the guests. Magec Tias moved-up to seventh place in Group B, which they share with Picken Claret. Real Canoe at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. Magec Tias will meet Almeria (#13) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Real Canoe's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Madrid Distrito Olimpico.
