Regular Season Round 15: Gravelines - Le Portel 46-74

There was a minor upset when 4th placed Gravelines (9-6) was crushed at home by seventh ranked Le Portel (9-6) 74-46 on Saturday. Le Portel held Gravelines to an opponent 24.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 46.7 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Gravelines 44-26 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Cameroonian guard Samir Gbetkom Bikantchou (191-98) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Marcello Piccoli (201-99) helped adding 13 points and 10 rebounds. Four Le Portel players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was point guard Lucas Bourhis (179-0) with 7 points and 7 assists and Louis Marnette (194-1) scored 10 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Le Portel. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Gravelines. Le Portel will face ES Chalonnais (#6) at home in the next round. Gravelines will play against Limoges and hope to win that game.
