Regular Season Round 30: Capitanes - Abejas 92-71

Date: January 13, 2018
Third ranked Capitanes (19-9) crushed at home 9th ranked Abejas (9-17) by 21 points 92-71, which is the biggest margin this round on Saturday night. Capitanes had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Fernando Benitez (204-89) who scored 17 points and 9 rebounds. The former international point guard Pedro Meza (186-85, college: Arizona W. CC, agency: Pro Sports) chipped in 17 points and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Capitanes players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Greg Smith (198-91, college: Colorado St.) who recorded 21 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Reginald Larry (198-86, college: Boise St., agency: Pro Sports) added 8 points and 5 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Capitanes have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Soles. Abejas lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 17 games lost. Capitanes will meet at home Panteras (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Abejas will play against the league's second-placed Soles in Mexicali and hope to secure a win.
