Regular Season Round 24: Kauhajoki - Helsinki Seagulls 70-62

The most important game in the last round took place in Kauhajoki between second ranked Helsinki Seagulls (13-9) and sixth ranked Kauhajoki (13-10) on Saturday night. Helsinki Seagulls was defeated by Kauhajoki in a tough game on the road 62-70. Helsinki Seagulls was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Kauhajoki dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Helsinki Seagulls' 26. They outrebounded Helsinki Seagulls 45-23 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American Greg Mangano (208-89, college: Yale, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV, agency: Blacktop Management) who added 11 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Five Kauhajoki players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Jermaine Marshall (193-90, college: Arizona St., agency: SDJ Sports) with 18 points and international Tuukka Kotti (205-81, college: Providence) scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. Helsinki Seagulls' coach Mikko Larkas rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kauhajoki maintains sixth position with 13-10 record. Helsinki Seagulls at the other side dropped to the fourth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Pyrinto. Kauhajoki are looking forward to face league's leader Salon Vilpas on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Helsinki Seagulls will have a break next round.
