Everything went according to plan when second ranked Gries/Oberhoffen (14-2) beat on the road 11th ranked Souffelweyersheim (7-10) 76-70 on Saturday. Spanish guard Xavier Forcada (194-88) stepped up and scored 9 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners and guard Oumarou Sylla (185-92) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds. Valentin Correia (192-93) responded with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and naturalized Moroccan power forward Adam El-Gazhi (204-95) scored 19 points. Four Souffelweyersheim players scored in double figures. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Gries/Oberhoffen. They maintain second place with 14-2 record having just three points less than leader Saint Vallier. Loser Souffelweyersheim dropped to the twelfth position with ten games lost. Gries/Oberhoffen will face UB Chartres (#5) at home in the next round. Souffelweyersheim will play against La Charite (#7) and hope to win that game.
