Regular Season Round 13: Charnay - SIG 56-50
Date: January 13, 2018
No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Charnay (8-5) beat bottom-ranked SIG (2-11) in Charnay-les-Macon 56-50. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Charnay made 19-of-22 charity shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Charnay had a 37-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. Power forward Johanna Cortinovis (190-86) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and point guard Melanie Devaux (170-92) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists (made all of her nine free throws !!!). At the losing side Cameroonian Amina NJonkou (185-88, college: Arizona) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds and Justine Wintz scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Charnay moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Montbrison. SIG lost eighth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. Charnay will play against league's leader Toulouse on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. SIG will play against CFBB (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
