Regular Season Round 17: Denso Iris - JX-Eneos S. 64-88

An interesting game for JX-Eneos S. (16-1) which played road game in Kariya against second-ranked Denso Iris (13-4). First ranked JX-Eneos S. had an easy win 88-64. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Denso Iris. The game was mostly controlled by JX-Eneos S.. Denso Iris managed to win third quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. JX-Eneos S. dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Denso Iris' 30 and made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. JX-Eneos S. looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. International forward Yuki Miyazawa (181-93, college: Queens, NY) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). The former international forward Yuka Osaki-Mamiya (185-90) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. The former international power forward Maki Takada (183-89) answered with 19 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and the former international guard Minami Iju (168-90) added 12 points in the effort for Denso Iris. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains first place with 16-1 record. Denso Iris at the other side dropped to the third position with four games lost. JX-Eneos S. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Denso Iris will play again at home against the league's leader JX-Eneos S. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
