Regular Season Round 24: Shandong - Sichuan 64-66

A very close game took place in Jinan between Whale and Shandong. Eleventh ranked Whale (10-14) got a very close victory on the road over 12th ranked Shandong (8-16). Whale managed to escape with a 2-point win 66-64 on Saturday evening. Whale dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Shandong's 26. The winners were led by Belarusian center Yelena Levchenko (196-83, college: W.Virginia) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 27 points and 21 rebounds and center Tong Xiao (185-0) supported her with 8 points and 6 rebounds. Even 23 points and 9 rebounds by the former international power forward Xiao Ji (193-85) did not help to save the game for Shandong. Guard Siyu Wang (175-95) added 13 points. Whale have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Bayi. Loser Shandong keeps the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Whale will meet Liaoning Hengye (#11) in the next round. Shandong will play against Heilongjiang in Harbin and hope to secure a win.
