Regular Season Round 16: FC Barcelona - Unicaja 73-76

The most exciting game of round 16 in the Liga Endesa took place in Barcelona. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of much higher ranked FC Barcelona (11-5) to eighth ranked Unicaja Malaga (9-7) 76-73 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of FC Barcelona. FC Barcelona trailed by 19 points at halftime and as many as 21 after three quarters before a 31-13 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 73-76 at the end of the game. Unicaja Malaga dominated on the defensive end, holding FC Barcelona to just 7 points in first quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Carlos Suarez (203-86, agency: Court Side) who helped to win the game recording 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Georgian center Giorgi Shermadini (217-89) contributed with 11 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. International power forward Pierre Oriola (206-92) replied with 17 points and 6 rebounds and Hungarian Adam Hanga (199-89, agency: Octagon Europe) added 8 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for FC Barcelona. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Unicaja Malaga have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. FC Barcelona at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. They share it with Valencia and Fuenlabrada.
