Very predictable result when fourth ranked Piombino (11-6) defeated at home 11th ranked Cecina (7-10) 69-62 on Sunday. They outrebounded Cecina 47-28 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Cecina was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Center Edoardo Persico (208-87, agency: Players Group) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 17 rebounds for the winners and Edoardo Fontana (193-98) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Piombino players scored in double figures. Lorenzo Turini (193-98, agency: Players Group) responded with 10 points and 6 rebounds and the former international forward Mario Gigena (198-77) scored 7 points and 6 rebounds. Cecina's coach Gianni Montemurro tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Piombino maintains fourth place in B with 11-6 record, which they share with Lecco.
