Tokyo Big Blue has finally registered their first victory this season after 15 consecutive losses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Tokyo, where they edged Tokyo Cinq R. (3-13) 75-72 on Sunday. Tokyo Big Blue forced 24 Tokyo Cinq R. turnovers. Strangely Tokyo Cinq R. outrebounded Tokyo Big Blue 40-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. Guard Kengo Funabashi (189-93) scored 23 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Kota Goto (176-94) chipped in 22 points and 4 steals during the contest. American guard Andre Murray (188-87, college: Portland St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and Senegalese Bira Seck (204-90, college: Idaho) scored 7 points and 12 rebounds. Tokyo Cinq R.'s coach Joe Navarro tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Tokyo Big Blue maintains ninth position with 1-15 record. Loser Tokyo Cinq R. keeps the eighth place with 13 games lost. Tokyo Big Blue will face higher ranked Saitama Broncos (#5) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
