Regular Season Round 19: UCAM Murcia II - Lliria 71-67

Rather predictable result when third ranked UCAM Murcia II (9-3) defeated at home 7th ranked Lliria (5-7) 71-67 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 19-12. But Lliria won second period 20-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. UCAM Murcia II dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Lliria's 20. They outrebounded Lliria 49-27 including a 35-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Bosnian forward Lazar Mutic (197-99) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds. Center Pablo-Jose Sanchez (208-93) helped adding 12 points and 9 rebounds. Five UCAM Murcia II players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward David Guardia (200-90) responded with 16 points and point guard Vicente Faubel (182-83) scored 8 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. UCAM Murcia II maintains third place in Group E with 9-3 record having five points less than leader Algeciras. Loser Lliria keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. UCAM Murcia II will face UAF Lucentum (#11) in Alicante in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lliria will play at home against Benidorm (#4) and hope to win that game.
