Regular Season Round 19: L Alfas - Paterna 64-61
Date: January 14, 2018
There was a small surprise in Alfas Del Pi where sixth ranked L Alfas (7-5) edged 4th placed Paterna (7-5) 64-61 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 64-61. L Alfas outrebounded Paterna 45-25 including a 37-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when L Alfas made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for American center Kentrall Brooks (203, college: Marist) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks. His fellow American import guard Anthony Jones (191-84, college: Indiana Tech) helped adding 19 points. At the losing side forward Juan-Luis Navarro (195-91) responded with 13 points and 8 rebounds and forward Vicent Santamatilde (197-94) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. L Alfas have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place in Group E, which they share with defeated Paterna. L Alfas will face bottom-ranked Aldaia (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Paterna will play against the league's leader Valencia-2 (#1) and hope to win that game.
