Regular Season Round 14: ToPo - Jarvenpaa 101-66

There was no surprise in Helsinki where 12th ranked Jarvenpaa (1-13) was crushed by third ranked ToPo (10-4) 101-66. The game was mostly controlled by ToPo. Jarvenpaa was better in fourth quarter 24-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. ToPo forced 20 Jarvenpaa turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American swingman LD Williams (193-88, college: Wake Forest) notched 24 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and Gambian center Baboucarr Ceesay (197-94) supported him with 18 points and 4 steals. Four ToPo players scored in double figures. Even 21 points and 6 rebounds by center Otso Laakkonen (198-93) did not help to save the game for Jarvenpaa. Aarni Korkiatupa (198-2) added 8 points and 10 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. ToPo maintains third position in Division with 10-4 record behind leader HBA-Marsky. Jarvenpaa at the other side keeps the twelfth place with 13 games lost. ToPo's next round opponent will be Oulun NMKY (#10) on the road and are hoping to win another game. Jarvenpaa will play against Forssan Koripojat and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
