There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Rimini (7-10) beat at home higher ranked Vicenza (10-7) 95-85 on Sunday. They outrebounded Vicenza 33-21 including 24 on the defensive glass. Rimini looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Vicenza's players. Matteo Caroli (-95) stepped up and scored 21 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and center Edoardo Tiberti (205-97) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Rimini's coach Andrea Maghelli used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Daniele Demartini (184-84, agency: Players Group) responded with 15 points and 4 assists and naturalized Argentinian center Diego Corral (203-86) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Rimini moved-up to eleventh place in B, which they share with Bernareggio and Olginate. Loser Vicenza keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Rimini will face higher ranked Padova (#8) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Vicenza will play against Olginate and hope to win that game.
