Regular Season Round 19: Culleredo - Chantada 64-91

Everything went according to plan when third ranked Chantada (10-6) outscored on the road 14th ranked Culleredo (5-11) 91-64 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Chantada. Culleredo was better in fourth quarter 23-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Chantada had a 29-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. Culleredo was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American swingman Charles Knowles (196-93, college: William Penn) who led his team to a victory scoring 30 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Nigerian forward Jeffrey Solarin (193-92, college: Idaho St.) helped adding 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Chantada players scored in double figures. At the losing side center Mario Cabanas (207-85) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Kyree Marshall (198-94, college: Elizabeth City) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Chantada maintains third place in Group A-B with 10-6 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Algeciras. Culleredo lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth position with 11 games lost. Chantada will face Ponferrada CDP (#5) at home in the next round. Culleredo will play against Innova Chef (#7) in Zamora and hope to win that game.
