An interesting game for Al Gharafa (12-1) which played road game in Al Wakrah against 3rd placed Al Wakrah (9-5). First ranked Al Gharafa managed to get a 6-point victory 90-84. Al Gharafa outrebounded Al Wakrah 54-35 including a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Al Gharafa made 7 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for international forward Sammy Monroe (198-85, college: Newberry) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists. American point guard James Justice (178-89, college: Martin Methodist) accounted for 25 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Monroe is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American-Ghanian Adamu Saaka (198-88, college: Furman) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and American point guard Marcus Johnson-Jr (180-95, college: UALR) added 23 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals respectively for Al Wakrah in the defeat. Four Al Gharafa and five Al Wakrah players scored in double figures. Al Gharafa have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 12-1 record. Loser Al Wakrah keeps the third position with five games lost.
