Regular Season Round 17: Salerno - Venafro 71-70

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Venafro (3-14) was edged on the road by fourth ranked Salerno (13-4) 71-70 on Sunday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Salerno outrebounded Venafro 41-26 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Venafro was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Power forward Paolo Paci (204-90) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and center Riccardo Bartolozzi (201-95) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. Four Salerno players scored in double figures. Power forward Niccolo Rinaldi (199-93) responded with 24 points and 7 rebounds and Marco Rossi (185-81, agency: SPORTlab Agency) scored 9 points and 5 rebounds. Newly promoted Salerno maintains fourth place in B with 13-4 record. Loser Venafro keeps the fourteenth position with 14 games lost. Salerno will face Capo d'Orlando (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Venafro will play against Battipaglia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
