Thirteenth-ranked Openjobmetis VA (4-11) used its home court advantage to challenge fifth ranked Fiat TO (10-5) in Varese on Sunday. The visitors from Torino managed to secure only three-point victory 92-89. However their fans expected much easier game. It was a good game for American swingman Lamar Patterson (196-91, college: Pittsburgh, agency: Pensack Sports) who led his team to a victory with 30 points and 5 assists. His fellow American import point guard Diante Garrett (196-88, college: Iowa St.) contributed with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Fiat TO's coach Luca Banchi allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Nigerian-American swingman Stan Okoye (198-91, college: VMI) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and Serbian swingman Aleksa Avramovic (192-94, agency: BeoBasket) added 17 points in the effort for Openjobmetis VA. Five Fiat TO and four Openjobmetis VA players scored in double figures. Fiat TO maintains fifth place with 10-5 record. Openjobmetis VA lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the thirteenth position with 11 games lost. Fiat TO will face New Basket BR (#14) in Brindisi in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Openjobmetis VA will play on the road against Umana Venezia and hope to win that game.
