Regular Season Round 18: Denso Iris - JX-Eneos S. 71-82

The game between Top Four teams took place in Kariya. 3rd ranked host Denso Iris (13-5) lost to first ranked JX-Eneos S. (17-1) 82-71. It looked good early as Denso Iris took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then JX-Eneos S. had a 27-15 second period charge getting the lead and Denso Iris were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 71-82. JX-Eneos S. made 25-of-29 charity shots (86.2 percent) during the game, while Denso Iris only scored seven points from the stripe. Denso Iris were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international power forward Ramu Tokashiki (191-91) notched 35 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and international point guard Asami Yoshida (165-87) supported her with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Four JX-Eneos S. players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 18 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals by the former international power forward Maki Takada (183-89) did not help to save the game for Denso Iris. The former international guard Minami Iju (168-90) added 21 points and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. JX-Eneos S. have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 17-1 record. Denso Iris at the other side keep the third place with five games lost. They share the position with Chanson V-M and Fujitsu RW. JX-Eneos S. will play against Chanson V-M (#4) in Shizuoka in the next round. Denso Iris will play on the road against Fujitsu RW in Kawasaki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
