Regular Season Round 15: Energa Torun - Artego Bydg. 76-85 OT

Sixth-ranked Energa Torun (7-6) gave a tough game to second ranked Artego Bydg. (12-2) on Sunday. The visitors from Bydgoszcz managed to secure only nine-point victory 85-76. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Energa Torun. The guests trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back getting tie in the second period and winning the second half and won the game in overtime by 9 points. Artego Bydg. made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 27 Energa Torun turnovers. Strangely Energa Torun outrebounded Artego Bydg. 37-24 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a great evening for American-Puerto Rican point guard Jennifer ONeill (165-90, college: Kentucky) who led her team to a victory scoring 26 points and 6 assists. International swingman Julia Adamowicz (179-94, agency: Promotex) helped adding 15 points and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was American guard Alexis Hornbuckle (180-85, college: Tennessee) with 29 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and Lithuanian Monika Grigalauskyte (190-92) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Artego Bydg. have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 12-2 record behind leader Wisla Krakow. Energa Torun at the other side dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. Artego Bydg. will face TS Ostrovia (#10) in Ostrow Wlkp. in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Energa Torun will play on the road against the league's leader Wisla Krakow and hope to win that game.
