Regular Season Round 16: FSU - Hamar 90-92

Eighth-ranked FSU (1-14) made lots of trouble for fifth ranked Hamar (10-4) in Selfoss on Monday. The visitors from Hamar managed to secure only two-point victory 92-90. However their fans expected easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But FSU won third quarter 27-25. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hamar well out of reach of FSU shooting 76.4 percent from the field and made 90-of-97 free shots (92.8 percent) during the game, while FSU only scored 61 points from the stripe. Strangely FSU outrebounded Hamar 120-93 including a 76-59 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 41 long-distance shots on high 71.9 percentage. Hamar looked well-organized offensively handing out 37 assists. 33 personal fouls committed by FSU helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Larry Thomas (185-93, college: Birm.Southern) fired 18 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners. The other American import guard Julian Nelson (196, college: Coker) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds. Thomas is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Hamar players scored in double figures. American forward Antowine Lamb (203-88, college: McPherson) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 17 rebounds and point guard Ari Gylfason (186-89) added 25 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. FSU's coach Eloy Doce rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Hamar moved-up to third place. FSU lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 14 games lost. Hamar are looking forward to face Fjolnir (#6) in Reykjavik in the next round. FSU will have a break next round.
