Not a big story in a game when 19th ranked Gold Lions (4-23) were outscored by seventeenth ranked Jilin Tigers (7-20) in Changchun 114-94 on Tuesday. Jilin Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Gold Lions' 44 and made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Jilin Tigers forced 21 Gold Lions turnovers and outrebounded them 47-28 including a 35-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gold Lions were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American guard Von Wafer (196-85, college: Florida St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Carl Landry (206-83, college: Purdue) contributed with 31 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American-Ukrainian point guard Eugene Jeter (180-83, college: Portland) answered with 23 points, 7 assists and 4 steals (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) and American forward Derrick Williams (203-91, college: Arizona) added 22 points in the effort for Gold Lions. Four Gold Lions players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Jilin Tigers maintains seventeenth place with 7-20 record. Gold Lions lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the nineteenth position with 23 games lost. Jilin Tigers will face higher ranked Brave Dragons (#15) in Taiyuan in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gold Lions will play on the road against the league's second-placed Flying Leopards (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
