Regular Season Round 14: Rouen - Saint-Chamond 94-85

Round 14 most important game was a victory of SPO Rouen over higher ranked Saint Chamond 94-85 on Tuesday night. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Saint Chamond. Saint Chamond trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 25-22 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 85-94 at the end of the game. SPO Rouen forced 23 Saint Chamond turnovers. Strangely Saint Chamond outrebounded SPO Rouen 35-19 including a 30-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American Amin Stevens (203-90, college: Florida A&M) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Lithuanian point guard Ovidijus Varanauskas (188-91) contributed with 13 points and 6 assists for the winners. Five SPO Rouen players scored in double figures. Cuban power forward Grismay Paumier (204-88) replied with 22 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and swingman Lucas Hergott (200-97) added 22 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) in the effort for Saint Chamond. Saint Chamond's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. SPO Rouen maintains eighth position with 8-6 record. Saint Chamond at the other side dropped to the fifth place with four games lost. They share the position with Fos-Provence. SPO Rouen are looking forward to face STB Le Havre (#16) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Saint Chamond will play against Provence Basket (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
