Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Fly Dragons (14-13) and Sturgeons (12-15), which took place in Jinjiang. Higher ranked Fly Dragons lost to fourteenth ranked Sturgeons in a road game 121-135 on Tuesday. Sturgeons looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Fly Dragons were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American point guard Russ Smith (183-91, college: Louisville) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 45 points (!!!), 6 rebounds, 11 assists and 5 steals. The former international swingman TaiLong Zhao (195-90) contributed with 23 points and 4 assists for the winners. American forward Shavlik Randolph (208-83, college: Duke) answered with a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds and Jordanian forward Zaid Abbas (203-83) added 39 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds in the effort for Fly Dragons. Four Sturgeons and five Fly Dragons players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sturgeons maintains fourteenth place with 12-15 record. Loser Fly Dragons keep the tenth position with 13 games lost. Sturgeons will face higher ranked Beijing Ducks (#7) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
