Regular Season Round 14: Fos-Provence - Caen 97-76

Very predictable result when sixth ranked Provence Basket (10-4) rolled over 11th ranked Caen (6-8) in Fos-sur-Mer 97-76 on Tuesday. The game without a history. Provence Basket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Caen's 40. They outrebounded Caen 36-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. Provence Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The former international forward Tariq Kirksay (199-79, college: Iona, agency: Octagon Europe) notched a double-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals to lead the effort and the former international point guard Abdoulaye MBaye (189-88) supported him with 21 points. Five Provence Basket players scored in double figures. Provence Basket's coach Remi Giutta felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 15 points and 4 assists by naturalized Mali guard Ludovic Chelle (183-83) did not help to save the game for Caen. Point guard Thomas Cornely (190-91, agency: Octagon Europe) added 8 points and 9 assists for the guests. Provence Basket have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Saint-Chamond. Caen lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with eight games lost. They share it with Nantes. Provence Basket will meet Saint Chamond (#6) on the road in the next round. Caen will play against JA Vichy (#13) and hope to secure a win.
