The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Valur (12-4) on the court of third ranked Keflavik on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by Keflavik 82-71. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Valur. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 82-71. International forward Thelma Agustsdottir (179-98) contributed with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Keflavik players scored in double figures. Keflavik's coach Sverrir Sverrisson used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American swingman Aaliyah Whiteside (183-94, college: Georgia Tech) replied with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds (made all of her eleven free throws !!!) and center Elin Hrafnkelsdottir (183-98) added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Valur. Keflavik have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion (11-5) moved-up to second place, which they share with Haukar. Valur at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. Keflavik is looking forward to face Breidablik (#5) in Kopavogur in the next round. Valur will play at home against Skallagrimur (#6) and is hoping to win this game.
